Marist In The Classroom

Friday, 30 May 2014 14:47

Sunrise Broadcasting of NY, Inc., owner of 1220 ESPN Radio and the Marist College Center for Sports Communication have launched a weekly sports radio program produced live from the Marist College campus, representing the nation’s first partnerships between an ESPN radio affiliate and an academic center on a college campus.

The program, named “The Classroom,” is heard on Saturday mornings on Fox1220, 95.7 and 94.1 ESPN Radio and live on the web at foxradio.net from 10 a.m. to noon. The show is hosted by accomplished sports academic and commentator Dr. Keith Strudler, director of the Marist College Center for Sports Communication, and play-by-play sports broadcaster Geoff Brault, voice of the Marist women’s basketball team. They will discuss the big topics and pressing issues in sports that are important to area listeners, going beyond wins and losses. Instead of only discussing what’s happening in sports, “The Classroom” will also focus on why it happens.

In addition to the Saturday morning program, every Friday, Marist sports communication students will write and produce a three-minute feature highlighting Marist athletics and other sporting events in the area. This segment, called “The Marist Minute,” will give listeners insight into what’s happening and what will happen locally in sports.

WEEKENDS ON FOX OLDIES

Since 1982, Dick Bartley has been hosting America's live, Saturday night request party. The show began as "Solid Gold Saturday Night"; transitioned into the "Rock & Roll Oldies Show" and since 1991 has been known as "Rock & Roll's Greatest Hits!" Every Saturday Night at 7PM Dick takes listener requests via the toll-free hotline (1-866-989-1975) and spins the greatest hits of all time.

Dick Clark defined an era in our culture and even now, after he’s gone, his name will always be synonymous with the greatest hits of the Rock & Roll era. For many fans and listeners, hearing Dick Clark on the radio right now is a fitting tribute to his legacy as a broadcasting pioneer and a tastemaker in music. It’s the very best in oldies/classic hits as hosted by the most revered icon of his generation. Rock, Roll and Remember – thirty years on the air and more meaningful now than ever every Sunday at 2PM
